Matthew 28:9 "And as they were going to tell his disciples, suddenly Jesus met them, saying, “Greetings”. And they came to him and clasped his feet and worshipped him."

Matthew 28:10 "Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid. Go tell my brethren that they should go to Galilee, and that they will see me there'."

Matthew 28:11 "While the women were going, some of the guard appeared, coming into the city. And they reported to the chief priests everything that had happened." Matthew 28:12 "And when they had met with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,..."

Here some of the women who had followed Jesus went to the tomb on Sunday morning after Jesus crucifixion on Friday. The women were going to tell about the empty tomb when they ran into Jesus. After meeting Jesus alive, “...some of the guard appeared...” (Matthew 28:11) It is apparent that some of the soldiers may have seen Jesus alive and definitely saw the women? Whether or not they believed that Jesus had resurrected from the dead is uncertain but they likely saw Jesus alive after the crucifixion and may have told the chief priests who no doubt didn't believe that Jesus had risen from the dead? The soldiers may not have recognized Jesus as some of Jesus other followers did not after his resurrection?
