In Matthew 9:13 Jesus says,
Matthew 9:13 “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance”.
Despite all of the great works for the Lord and great deeds one may do for the Lord he, “desires mercy not sacrifice”.
In Matthew 9:13 Jesus is quoting from Hosea 6:6:
Hosea 6:6 “For I delight in mercy,
and not sacrifice,
and the knowledge of God
more than burnt offerings.”
Micah 6:6" With what shall I come before
the LORD and bow down
before the God on high?
Shall I come before him with
burnt offerings, with calves
a year old?"
Micah 6:7" Will the LORD be pleased with
thousands of rams,
or with ten thousand rivers
of oil? Shall I give my firstborn
for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin
of my soul?"
The knowledge of God in Hosea 6:6 leads to hearing and hearing to faith as it is written in Romans 10:17.
Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of God.”
